A new bathroom starts with a clear removal plan. Tell us what is coming out, what needs to remain and what your renovator needs next.
Starting from scratch
Discuss a complete bathroom gut-out, including the agreed fixtures, tiles, flooring and linings. AJ can coordinate identified non-friable asbestos removal with associated strip-out work, so your builder understands the removal scope and planned handover.

Keeping part of the room
Not every renovation needs the whole room removed. Describe the bath, finishes or other areas you want retained. The removal method is considered around the actual materials and access, with retained items identified before the work proceeds.

Existing bathroom wall linings, flooring or backing materials may need assessment before renovation. Photos help describe the room, but they cannot confirm whether a material contains asbestos. Share any existing testing results or reports with Jamie.
AJ specialises in licensed non-friable removal. If friable material is identified, Jamie can refer you to an appropriately licensed specialist. Independent clearance arrangements can be discussed where required or requested.
Do not disturb suspected asbestos to prepare for a quote. SafeWork NSW recommends using a licensed asbestos professional for any amount of non-friable asbestos. Read SafeWork NSW guidance.
Bathroom and renovation reviews
1 of 4
“I recently engaged Ajay Demolitions & Asbestos Removal to strip out a bathroom and laundry and remove asbestos.”
Tell Jamie your suburb, what is being removed and what needs to stay. Include room photos, access details and any reports you already have.
2
Agree the scope
Discuss the quote, identified asbestos, waste arrangements and plumbing or electrical disconnections with the relevant trades. Your plans help establish the practical sequence.
3
Confirm the handover
Agree the intended finish with your builder or renovator before removal starts. New waterproofing, tiling and fixtures belong to the next stage, not an assumed removal package.
Room size, materials, tiles, flooring layers, floor level and access affect your quote. Our Sydney asbestos removal cost guide explains the asbestos-related part of pricing; it is not a fixed bathroom strip-out price.
AJ works across Sydney and Western Sydney, including Blacktown, Seven Hills, Parramatta and the Hills District. Tell Jamie the project suburb and planned timing so availability can be confirmed. You can also view AJ's project archive.
Bathroom removal questions.
What can a bathroom strip-out include?
Discuss the bath, vanity, tiles, flooring, wall or ceiling linings and any other fittings you want removed. A strip-out can be a complete gut-out or a selected removal. Jamie confirms the actual scope, retained areas, access and waste arrangements in the quote. Do not assume every item is included without discussing it.
Can you leave the bath or selected finishes in place?
Yes, partial removal can be discussed. AJ's original project photography includes a bathroom with the bath and selected finishes retained. Tell Jamie exactly what is staying and share the renovation plans. The method and quote depend on the materials, condition and access; retaining an item should be agreed before work starts.
Can asbestos removal and the bathroom strip-out be coordinated?
Yes. AJ holds non-friable asbestos removal licence AD214621 and demolition licence AD204230. Bathroom and laundry strip-outs can be discussed alongside identified non-friable asbestos removal as one coordinated scope. If friable material is identified, Jamie can explain the next steps and refer you to an appropriately licensed specialist.
Can you tell if a bathroom contains asbestos from photos?
No. Photographs describe the room and access but cannot confirm whether a material contains asbestos. Share any existing testing results or reports with Jamie, or ask about appropriate assessment and testing arrangements. Do not disturb suspected material to take a closer photograph or prepare the room for a quote.
How much does bathroom removal cost?
The quote depends on the agreed items, materials, room size, floor level, access, waste volume and any identified asbestos. Tiles bonded to sheeting or multiple flooring layers can change the work involved. AJ's asbestos cost guide is a useful starting point for that part of a job, not a fixed price for every bathroom strip-out. Contact Jamie for a quote for your property.
What should I arrange before the work starts?
Explain what needs removing, what is staying and how the work fits your renovation schedule. Discuss plumbing and electrical disconnections with the relevant trades, and confirm access, parking and the route for waste removal. Include existing reports and your builder's requirements so the removal scope and handover can be agreed.
Is this a complete bathroom renovation service?
This page covers bathroom removal and strip-out, not a bathroom renovation package. Discuss waterproofing, tiling, replacement fixtures and the next stage with your builder or renovator. AJ's quote identifies the agreed removal work and handover, so everyone knows where that scope ends and the next trade's work begins.
