We hold Class B non-friable asbestos removal licence AD214621. That means suitable bonded asbestos work—not friable asbestos or every type of contamination. If the job needs a different specialist, we will tell you.
Asbestos flooring and bathroom renovations
Older bathrooms, laundries and kitchens can have asbestos in wall or ceiling sheeting, or beneath floor finishes. It is worth checking what is there before the strip-out starts—not once your renovator is halfway through.
Vinyl tiles, sheet flooring, backing and adhesives need individual assessment. Some may be friable and outside our Class B scope. Send through any testing reports so we can confirm the right approach.
For suitable non-friable work, AJ can take care of removal and the agreed strip-out. We discuss fixtures, finishes and adjoining rooms that need to stay, and the handover your builder needs.

Asbestos eaves, cladding and roofing
Old bonded cement sheets can turn up in eaves, gables, external walls and roof sheeting. Whether you are replacing damaged sheets or planning a larger renovation, we look at the material’s condition and how we can reach it.
Height, nearby windows, gardens, fences and neighbouring properties all affect the plan. We discuss the access and protection needed, then agree the extent of removal so there are no assumptions about what is included.
Bonded roofing enquiries are assessed in the same way. Tell Jamie about the roof and any existing reports before other trades start disturbing it.
Asbestos fencing, garages and sheds
Replacing old fence panels or taking down a garage? We can discuss the suitable non-friable sheeting and any associated demolition as one job. Boundary access, adjoining structures and the areas being kept all need to be clear from the start.
For a garage, tell us whether the frame and slab are staying or going. For fencing, include anything that affects access on either side. Your quote sets out the removal, disposal and any separate demolition work.

Getting ready for asbestos removal
Send us any asbestos reports, renovation plans or demolition scope you already have. Let Jamie know who uses the property, how we can access the work area and what needs to remain in place.
We will explain the timing, work-area restrictions and anything you need to arrange beforehand. Leave suspect material alone—do not lift sheets, take samples or sweep debris to get ready for us.
If removal is part of a bigger project, we can coordinate it with residential demolition and strip-out work. We agree the handover so your builder knows when the affected area can be used again.

Understand the job
Talk through what you have found, check the material and access, and agree the work and written quote. Testing or further assessment is arranged where needed.
Protect the surrounding area
Set up the work area and the controls suited to the job, including access restrictions and protection for areas being retained.
Remove, clean up and dispose
Carry out the agreed non-friable removal and work-area clean-up. Keep asbestos waste separate and arrange lawful transport and disposal.
Check and hand over
Organise the applicable independent clearance inspection and certificate. Licensed asbestos removal requires clearance before the area is reoccupied.

What work does AJ’s asbestos licence cover?
AJ holds Class B non-friable asbestos removal licence AD214621. That covers suitable bonded asbestos work, not friable asbestos or every type of contamination. We assess each enquiry and let you know if a different specialist is needed.
Can you confirm asbestos from a photo?
Not reliably. Photos help us understand the visible material, access and size of the job, but cannot confirm asbestos content. A site visit or professional testing may still be needed. There is no need to disturb anything to get a photo.
Does AJ remove asbestos flooring?
We assess flooring enquiries before confirming the work. Tiles, sheet flooring, backing and adhesives can differ, and some materials may be friable. Our Class B licence is for non-friable asbestos only. If the work is outside that scope, we will explain when an appropriately licensed specialist is needed.
Does asbestos always need to be removed?
Not necessarily. Material that is in good condition and will remain undisturbed may not need removal. Its condition and your renovation plans matter. Get advice before cutting into or stripping out suspect material.
Can you coordinate removal with a bathroom renovation or demolition?
Yes. AJ also holds demolition licence AD204230. We can discuss non-friable asbestos removal and the agreed strip-out or demolition together. Tell Jamie what is being removed, what stays and when your builder expects to start.

What if I uncover or damage suspect material?
Stop work affecting it, leave the material undisturbed and keep people away. Call AJ before attempting a clean-up. Do not move pieces or disturb the material to get a better photo. We assess each enquiry and advise if specialist help is needed.
What happens to the asbestos waste?
The agreed asbestos waste is kept separate from ordinary demolition waste and arrangements are made for lawful transport and disposal at a facility that accepts asbestos. Jamie will explain what removal, waste handling and disposal are included in the quote.
Can you arrange independent clearance?
Yes. Licensed asbestos removal needs an independent clearance inspection before the area is reoccupied. For non-friable work, the certificate can be issued by an appropriately qualified independent competent person or asbestos assessor—not AJ’s removal crew. We explain the arrangements for your job before work starts.
What information helps with a quote?
The suburb, material involved, approximate amount, access and your renovation or demolition plans are a good start. Include any existing reports and photos you already have. Jamie will confirm the scope, price and availability after assessment.
